⚾ Speedway Classic Resumes in Style: Braves vs. Reds at Bristol

After rain washed out the long-awaited debut, Major League Baseball returns to Bristol Motor Speedway today for the continuation of the historic Speedway Classic. The Cincinnati Reds lead the Atlanta Braves 1–0 as play resumes this afternoon at 1 PM ET in what has already become one of the most talked-about events of the season.

🏁 A Game Like No Other

The Speedway Classic marks the first-ever MLB regular-season game played in Tennessee and the first ever at a NASCAR track. Over 85,000 fans packed into Bristol on Saturday to witness the collision of baseball and motorsports.

Unfortunately, the game was suspended after just four outs due to heavy rain, but not before the Reds managed to grab a quick lead.

💥 How the Action Unfolded

Despite the short-lived action, the Reds struck early:

  • Elly De La Cruz and Matt McLain each reached base with infield singles.
  • Austin Hays drove in the game’s only run so far with an RBI single to left.
  • Chase Burns, making his MLB debut for Cincinnati, looked sharp, striking out two in a perfect first inning.
  • Austin Cox took over for Braves ace Spencer Strider, who was scratched last-minute. He gave up the early run before the rain hit.

The stadium remained electric through the delays, with racing-themed jerseys, fireworks, and appearances from NASCAR legends keeping the fans engaged.
